THE THOUGHT BEHIND THE PROCESS

Using the Punch...

I have a lot of beautiful Punches that I probably do not use enough. Lately I have found that I am using them more and more and not just for card making but for my layouts.

In your scrapping lifetime you will own at least one - my first was a medium corner rounder punch, I now have the whole set, along with shapes, animals and the very popular border punches that have been gracing the market.

The layout below is titled Free Spirit. I took the photo of my daughter on an angle and thought to myself 'how on earth was I going to scrap this' - I love the photo, it was just that it was a peculiar angle... but once the layout was finished i was really happy with the outcome.

A lot of 'scrap rules' tell you not to put your photo in the center of your page... but having the photo on the angle has helped balance the layout. I wanted to use something nice and bright to make my layout stand out and to compliment the background paper so I picked some Bazzill Bling cardstock to co-ordinate with the daughter printed paper.

I decided that i would lift the wings of the butterflies that were printed on the paper by using my craft knife to cut the sides and lift them over the photograph - under the wings i placed a small foam dot to keep them raised.

Next i added some punched flowers. I have both the large and medium in the daisy punches and used these to punch out quite a few that I then scattered to the bottom left of the page and to the bottom right of the page. Before adhering I inked the edges and pinched each petal so that it was slightly lifted off the page.

Adding further embellishments finished off the page. Ribbon was added as a border to the top of the printed paper and to accent the circle on the printed paper at the top right,  I added a large decorative eyelet... I continued with the decorative eyelets down the page adding them throughout the flowers.

I used a few black rub on butterflies and the 'Free Spirited' rub on to finish off the layout. I do hope you have more fun creating with your punches, they are a great way to add more to your layouts.

Have a fantastic week
Tracey

TFS Tracey. I too have found myself using a lot of punches these days. Especially border punches and others to create journaling spots. Viva the Punch Revolution! Alz :)

This looks beautiful Tracey,
I have a heap of punches that I hardly ever use now. I think I'll bring them out of hiding.
