Docrafts Christmas Cards and class - Nicky Amber

This week I have used the Docrafts Delicate Filigree Cards and a range of techniques to make some Christmas cards.

So this........

has turned into these......

Card 1.
Keeping it very simple, I have just used an embossing folder to dry emboss the background, inking and liquid pearls to decorate.

Card 2.
In this card I have used texture paste, glimmer mist, wet embossing (using embossing powders and a stamp) on the background and inking.

Card 3.

On this card I have blended Distress inks to create the background.

Card 4.

In this card I have used alcohol inks to create the background and a stamp with Distress inks to create interest on the tree.

Due to the many different techniques used for these cards, we have decided to offer these as a class at Scrap N Craft with T.

Techniques you will cover include
  • using Distress inks
  • using Glimmer Mist
  • how to blend with your Distress inks
  • using Alcohol inks
  • wet embossing
  • dry embossing
  • stamping
This is a great opportunity for beginners or if you aren't familiar with any of these techniques to be shown step by step... and as a bonus you will also get to take home four beautiful handmade Christmas cards.
Hope to see you there.......if you would like more information please contact Tanyah on 0458217911.

Happy creating...xxxooo

Let's have some fun!.....handmade embellishments by Sue Smith

I don't know about you, but I LOVE to try new products and experiment with them to see what happens....and this is just what I did when Tanyah sent me some fabulous Viva Decor Croco Crackling Colour. I had so much fun playing with this!

NOTE: You can click on any of the following photos to see an enlarged image.

First of all I started off with some plain chipboard shapes....

I spread each shape with about 2mm thickness of the Viva Decor Croco Crackling Colour in Turquoise colour and left it to dry for 24 hours.....

You need to BE PATIENT with this part of the process to get the most out of this fabulous product. I experimented with speeding up the drying process with my heat gun, but this was the disappointing result....

....so don't be impatient, because the day's wait is totally worth it as this is how it turns out with natural drying....

Now these pieces are gorgeous just as they are, but I really wanted to go a step further and try something different, so I got out my Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Inks and had fun colouring the different pieces. I have a bad habit when I play with my alcohol inks of not knowing when to stop, so the resulting pieces have none of the original colour left showing....

Next, I pressed the chipboard pieces facedown onto a Versamark Pad and then sprinkled liberally with some Clear UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel)......

I shook off the excess UTEE, otherwise it would have blown away when I applied the heat gun. Once the UTEE was melted, I sprinkled small amounts of UTEE and heated again, building up the layers until I was happy with the result. You could also sprinkle with some glitter at this stage if you wish. Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of UTEE to play with, otherwise I would have built up the layers even more. The effect you achieve from this is reminiscent of dichroic glass....I love how everything changed so much from the original...

Once the UTEE is totally dry, you can file the edges or punch holes quite readily through all the mediums.....so cool! I had SO much fun playing with this.

Here is a card I made with one of the finished embellishments....

....and a close-up....

I really hope you like what I've created this week, and I would encourage to try some of this fabbo Viva Decor Croco Crackling Colour....it really is lots of fun and I would love to see what you create with it... Tanyah has a gallery where you can display any of your creations.

Until next Monday....happy scrapping everybody!! xx

Step by step layout by Tanyah Payne

Hope the weekend was a wonderful one for lots of you out their, Thankyou to so many of you that pop in here and check out what everyone is up to. We get a buzz when you comment, for your feedback  makes it all worth while.

With all this new product coming into the shop lately I had to have a play. As some of you may know texture & mess is my world within scrapping. Getting  your hands a bit dirty is heaps of fun!...

So I have decided to use the Dark Room Door NEW products Viva range - Ferro. Man alive this is like a moose like texture to apply you can almost eat it....lol. BUT when it drys the colours are so vibrant, with a sand paper like texture.... it is a fun product to work with and would recommend it to anyone that LOVES TEXTURE......

Here is my creation from friday night... early morning....lol!

Products used:

Check out Nic Creates NEW COLOURS of Rolly Roses... they are divine and beautiful to work with.

  1. Using a place and white patterned paper like Bella Melrose Vintage pattered cardstock your then able to colour your paper any way you need to match your photos.
  2. Place your paper on a mat or inside a box and spray your Glimmer mist: key lime, yellow across the page. Change over to other colours you require
  3. Leave to dry
  4. Find your Crafters Workshop Templates - Swirls and place over your page as desired
  5. Using your finger or a pallet knife use the Dark Room Door - Viva Decor - Ferro - Silver quite generously and lay it over your template. When covered areas are finished take your template off and wait for it to dry. I did use a heat gun to speed this process up a bit.
  6. Using one 5x7" photo and 2 smaller 4x3" photos I sanded the edges and places where i wanted them to go
  7. At the top left corner i cut out a shape and placed Felt in the missing hole
  8. Using a scallop ruler/ using your corner rounder punch and make a template. I then made a scallop border out of Felt and placed at the bottom of the photo.
  9. Lay  Lace over the top of the Felt
  10. Using  Nic Creates, - Rolly Roses - Purple mix  I created my flower cluster along with adding the pearly bling flower from Prima Swirls/flower blings flourishes.
  11. Placed a raw 2 Crafty chipboard swirls under the  Nic Creates, - Rolly Roses - Purple mix  flowers
  12. Using the Prima Swirls/flower blings   cut a small amount and placed it at the top left of the page.
  13. Then using the Bella - Fundamentals - felt butterflies  and placed these on the swirls.
  14.

Thankyou for reading and hope I have inspired you to create your own paper beyond what it originally was.
