Single Layout - step by step instructions by Ingeborg ..... 'Meeting Vicki'

Here is Ingeborg's first step by step, hope you enjoy!.....





Materials used:

· Coredinations Cardstock

· WeR Memory Keepers double-sided cardstock MVP – Jordan

· Buttons

· Black Foam Alphabet Stickers

· AdornIt by Carolees Creations Alphabet Stickers Sleek Red

· Hero Arts Journaling Stamp

· Stampers Anonymous Spills & Splatters Stamp

· Green Tara Mesh Ribbon Red

· Black Pearl Beaded Trim 3 mm

· Embroidery Thread red



Instructions:






· I wanted to create a so called ‘budget layout’ without too many materials.

· The sheet of double-sided cardstock is going to be first thing to work with.

· I first cut a 1 ½ inch x 12 inch strip from the top (making sure I cut across the paper to get a little piece of all the lines).

· I turned the paper over and cut the paper in four pieces.

· The square piece with ‘MVP’ is put aside for a card I will be making later.

· The piece with the little flags is also put aside for another card.

· I only use the square with the numbers and the rectangle with the smaller lines.

· I inked the edges of the red cardstock and I used the ‘spills& spatters’ stamp to distress the background a little bit.







· I used an edge distresser and ink to distress the edges of my papers and photo.

· I put the long strip with the strips to the right and the other two pieces of patterned paper across the page (see photo)







· I placed the photo on top of the papers (see photo).







· I placed the mesh ribbon on top of the photo.







· I used a small round plate and placed it on top of my photo.

· I randomly placed 18 buttons around it to create a frame.







· I added my title using two different alphabet stickers. I outlined the red stickers with black pen to make them stand out more.

· I added the black pearl trim to the left.







· I created a little flower out of the pearl trim. I used red embroidery thread to make it visible where I put the knots. Normally I would use the colour of the trim J !

· I added a little asterisk and pearl in the centre of the flower to ‘hide’ my knots.

· I placed the flower on the layout.

· I used a journaling stamp and wrote my journaling. Done!

Step 1
Using the My Minds Eye Abbey Road “Blossom” Growing Garden pattern paper – poke out the dots around border
].

Step 2
Adhere photograph top left hand corner approximately 35mm from top and left hand side of pattern paper. Instead of matting my photograph I have doodled around the photograph leaving a random gap for bling .


Step 3
If you’d prefer to mat your photography do that prior to adhering to the pattern paper. Using various size circle punches, cut a number of circles from matching pattern paper and for journal block .


Step 4
Ink edges of circles and journaling block. Adhere additional flowers, circles of pattern paper and bling amongst pattern on bottom of pattern paper .


Step 5
Also add a number of circles to the top right hand corner .


Step 6
Add title to top right hand side of page. I’ve used American Craft thickers AND smaller alphabet stickers. I’ve added a fine black pen edge to the alphabet stickers and around the thickers to add dimension to the title .


Step 7
Add journaling and any additional buttons, bling or pearls to flowers. Finally add some kindy glitz to the larger flowers

Made X Manda - Camera Straps

Camera straps and other handmade items by Amanda Moran

Padded fabric straps to suit SLR cameras - they measure approximately 120 cm (47 inches) long, and are adjustable to a longer or shorter version by adjusting the nylon strap ends if you like. The nylon strap (part that loops through the camera) is 13mm (1/2 inch) wide- the widest part of the fabric strap is 4cm (1 3/4 inches).

Double Layout KIT for sale by Michelle Jamieson

Today we have a kit design by Michelle Jamieson...
This is Chelle's last kit she has designed for us.

Products used

Instructions

Step One – Take your 2 sheets of white cardstock. These will be your base. I sprayed some Glimmer mist on the base for a little extra, but that’s optional.

Step Two – Next, we are going to add some patterned papers. Cut your “Snow Notes” to approx. 30cm (width of your pp) x 22.5cm. Then take your blue side of “winter’s Chill” and cut it to approx. 30cm x 13cm. Then from your “Frosted Strips” sheet, cut the red section with coloured circles and doodled edge and the length of the paper (30cm). Arrange them and adhere as shown in the pic.

Tip: Stick them all down then across the 2 base sheets of cardstock, then cut down the centre to separate the 2 cardstock...it’s much easier.

Step Three – Time to add your pics. I’ve used a mix of 6x4’s and small 2up size. Arrange them as you’d like on your layout. I matted 2 of the smaller size with the green side of “Coloured Winter”, to add some variation. I also cut the striped scalloped strip from the “Frosted strips” patterned paper. I used a hole punch to add the holes for something different.

Step Four – Add some ribbon and sequins. Place your ribbon just above your red pp, with the coloured circles. Then along the bottom of the ribbon, add your sequin trim.


Step Five – Dress up your snowflakes on your patterned paper base. I added some Bella bling to the centre and finished it off with some Clear Kindy Glitz, to add some sparkle.

Step Six – On to your title. I used Kaiser – Chipboard Alphas and painted mine an orangey colour, before finishing them off with dimensional magic to add some gloss.

Step Seven – Lastly, time to finish off. I added a date, using Adorn it alphas and chipboard. Then, add a few flowers and embellish with buttons and bling. Print out some strip journaling and add to the side of your main 6x4 pic. Your layout is now complete!

January Guest Designer is... Amanda Moran

Here is a bit about Amanda Moran


I’m a married Mum of two daughters (14 & 10), who works full-time to support her scrapbooking habit! I’ve been scrapbooking for almost 10 years and try to scrapbook every day! I enjoy paper scrapping but also enjoy digital scrapbooking. I have previously been published in Scrapbooking Memories and Scrapbook Creations and I love a good challenge!
As well as capturing our everyday and special occasions for future generations I love that I have meet some amazing women through scrapbooking – through online forums – whom I now consider great friends! I’m lucky to have met some of these ladies in real life and enjoy weekend retreats a couple of times a year with them and the occasional crop.

In the past six months I’ve been making and selling camera straps through my blog – Made.X.Manda (http://madexmanda.blogspot.com).


I also have a scrapbooking blog – Not Enough Hours in the Day – I’d love you to visit and leave a comment (http://scrapmanda.blogspot.com).

THE THOUGHT BEHIND THE PROCESS

Hi Everyone,

I do hope you have made lots of NY resolutions that you can adhere to as well as alter a little...lol... and that you have all recovered from all the festivities. Today i am going to chat about:

Three photos, a border & some stitching.

All set to scrap and I had three square photos and some left over We Are Memory Keepers paper from another project. The brain start to tick.... and tock.... and tick again... let me tell ya it was a long process.

I wanted to try and keep it simple as I was trying to scrap pictures of my beautiful little boy. I cut a complete border from the printed paper and distressed the outer edges. The photos I had chosen would not be mounted onto a mat, instead I edged the photos in my dark brown staz on ink instead. I found that this added a nice dark border and helped the photos to stand out on their own.

Okay I was ready to start to stick it all down. I added the Patterened paper border that I created. It was adhered by straight stitching on the outer edge and then a zig zag stitch was used on the inside edge, its effective and adds to a little dimension to the page.

I then added my photos, layering the center one on top of the others as it was what I had named the layout about. The title was added and then some raindrop stickers. I used the opposite side of my leftover paper to add a journalling spot and I was all done.

It was a quick and simple layout that told his story for the day... my cute little 4 year old could swim and float ... I am a proud mumma.

Today I saw this layout by Ingeborg Dijkstra and thought what a fun concept. A photo of hands.... have you ever taken pics of hands before... it is quite a fun experience and it is amazing what stories/journal ling you can do too!.

I have done a layout of hands using it as a generation pic of myself, my daughter, my mother and my Nana.... love it!.

I'm 41 and live in Melbourne with my husband Geoff and fur 'teenager' Max (he's a 15 year old border collie cross). I've been paper-crafting for 11 years and scrapping for four. My style is ever changing, but generally busy and technique based. I love simple, clean, graphic style layouts with lots of white space but am yet to pull one off successfully LOL! I always end up needing to 'add' more! A lot of my work has been published in the main Australian scrapbooking magazines, including Creating Keepsakes Australia. I love to travel (to scrapbooking retreats and to meet forum friends), shop(for scrapbooking products), watch DVDs (about scrapbooking), and read(scrapbooking magazines and books). Ingeborg Dijkstra

My name is Ingeborg (39) , married to Siebe (39) and mum to Emma (11), Rick (10) and Tom (10). We are currently living in the Netherlands, Europe. I started scrapping in 1997 when I was pregnant with Emma. At that time we lived in the US where scrapping was already quite popular. In 1999 we moved to Germany. There were no scrapbooking shops there at all. Due to the fact I had three children under two and I was too tired to do much and the fact it was impossible to find a lot of materials, I hadn't scrapped for a few years. Luckily we moved to Australia in 2002 where we had plenty of scrapbooking shops and sites to get inspired by. I even had my own scrapbooking shop and site whilst living there. In July 2009 we moved back to the Netherlands and I am excited about the opportunity to continue to scrap, since I am now truly addicted and nothing can stop me anymore. I am looking forward to creating things for Tanyah and I hope it will inspire you all!

I started scrapping about 12 years ago when a friend of mine invited me to a CM workshop. I soon grew tired of this concept and gave up only to start again about 6 years later. I lead a very busy lifestyle that doesn't always allow time for the things I love the most but when I get some spare time I prefer to spend it creating. I am the founder and creator of Scrapchat, a scrapbooking Chat forum where members can chat and develop life forming friendships while sharing their passion for scrapbooking. Also have developed a Scrapbooking Auction Site where registered members can off load their unwanted supplies without all the fees. I have had my first layout published last year in Scrapbooking memories.

Kylie Abel

My name is Kylie, and I am a scrap-a-holic. It's been something like 7 years now, and I don't really want to stop... I am the mother of 2 beautiful and at times annoying children - Elizabeth (4) and Phillip (2). They feature heavily in my scrapbooking. I am also married to a very understanding man Matthew. He supports me taking over half of the kid's toy room as my "scrapping area", and even doesn't mind me buying heaps of "stuff" (although he doesn't really know the full cost... LOL). I enjoy scrapbooking for scrapbooking's sake, but I also love the fact that I am leaving a physical memory for my children. My favourite times are when my family and I flick through the albums I have created and reminisce together. It makes it all worth it.

I love traditional scrapping the most - playing with paper and getting my hands covered in ink and paint, but I also love digital scrapbooking. I love how you can create your own elements, and with a small supply you can alter everything to match and it doesn't cost you any extra money! Plus there's that useful "undo" button when you've made a mistake...

My family and I live on the Central Coast, NSW and enjoy the laid-back way of life here. There aren't too many decent scrap shops around, so I love that I can buy what I want (or is that "need"?) from Tanyah's shop! I am honoured to be a part of this talented design team!

Lisa Kamphuis

My name is Lisa and I am obsessed - with all things scrapbooking - the creating , the shopping , the challenges, the journalling and my favourite part - the friendships I have made and the beautiful people I have been able to meet!! I started scrapbooking way back when it was all about ovals and circles and stickers!!! And to think I even loved it back then. Well time has moved forward about 10 years and I can now look back and see my own style change and evolve. My current favourite is vintage, shabby chic type layouts and given that it is the current flavour of the month in the scrapbooking world I am in my element. I love traditional 12 x 12 layouts and I'm also a bit of a fan of off the page creations as well!!

I live on the Gold Coast with my fabulous husband and our four kids so I always have plenty of inspiration for photos!!! I look forward to spending my time here at Tanyah's sharing some of my work with you and hope that I can provide you with some thought and ideas and inspiration.

Leanne Stamatellos

I started scrapbooking in late 2003. A Creative Memories gift voucher from my parents started me off. They thought it was something I'd like ... and it was! Since then, I have had over 100 pieces of work published (layouts and articles) in most of the Australian Magazines as well as a layouts accepted by Scrapbook Answers (US), Scrapbooks Etc.(US) and Simple Scrapbooks (US). I'm proud to have received Honorable Mentions with Scrapbooking Memories - 1 single layout, 1 double layout and 2 off the page items. I create layouts mostly about my family and the moments in our daily life. I find inspiration everywhere. From TV ads, magazines, fashion and the beautiful papers that I use. Sometimes a layout just happens - that's a great feeling. Of course I'm also inspired by other artists. I scrap anytime my children are asleep, mainly at the kitchen table in the company of my husband. It's great to throw ideas his way - I get a different perspective. My style tends to be fairly clean in design, focusing strongly on the story and the photograph. I enjoy graphic, modern, crisp pages and I love 'white space'. I definately scrap for me. It's a great creative outlet and it brings balance to my life. It's a wonderful way to preserve a memory for both myself and my children ... and their children.

Melinda Spinks

I live with my husband and two children on our farm in North East Victoria, where life is simple, peaceful and wonderful, the work is hard but worth the blood, sweat and tears. I bought my first copy of Scrapbooking Memories in February this year and have been captivated with the craft ever since. Our table is no longer used for eating, the spare room is being invaded by nappy boxes full of 'scrappy stuff', I go to town covered in double sided tape and bling, I receive pizza boxes in the post, I have a 'blog', and late at night when all is quiet and the 'little people' are in bed, I create! Scrapbooking is a new journey for me, and I'm loving the ride so far! And what a ride it has been... I have been to my first retreat (loved it), I have been a guest designer (terribly nervous), I have had two layouts published and more to come (so exciting to see your work in print), I was incredibly honoured to win the 'Embellish It' Competition and I was 'over the moon' to become a member of the design team for the American based company 'Imaginisce'. The past 10 months have been amazing but what I take away from it is the new found friendships that I have made in Australia and all over the world with people that share such a passionate hobby

Thanks to Tanyah for inviting me to be part of the team for 2010. This is going to be such a fun and exciting year. This year I get to turn a big 40 – way too much fun to be had in my birthday month.

I am a mum of a pigeon pair (you know the Kelvinator kids… just not twins). And my darling husband is so good to me … spoils me rotten and lets me know I am his Princess… what more can a girl ask?

Back to Scrapping….. I have been scrapping since I lost my father back in 1997. I bought my first lot of papers from a store in Lismore where I was living and created a Wedding Album for my Mum. I never realized that it was called Scrapbooking until 2004 when my friend introduced me to it.

I have always been into art and processes. I studied it heavily in High School. I have always had a love of sewing, and was very lucky to have been given the family gene from my Great Aunt , I love incorporating sewing into my scrapping.

I don’t like to define myself as having a style … I think we all evolve and change to what suits us at one particular time. There are so many influences around us and the inspiration is endless… lets all just take the journey and see where we end up – I look forward to some chatter with you and a little fun in 2010
